2010 SALE OF STARS
The Sale of Stars realized a splendid average of $19,822.73 on 88 lots when held at the Royal Agricultural Winter Fair in Toronto, Ont., on the evening of November 11th, making it the highest averaging sale in Canada this year. The 58th edition of this internationally famous sale series was managed for the second year in a row by Greaves, Lalande & Johnston Inc. One of the premier events of Royal week, more than 2000 spectators from around the world were on hand to witness some of the finest Holstein genetics anywhere sell to buyers in this sale from seven Canadian provinces, eight American states and five other foreign countries.
First lot in the ring was Lot 71, Donelea Goldwyn Rose, a donation heifer from Gen-Cor. All net proceeds will be donated to 4-H. She is an
8/9/09 Goldwyn daughter from 7 generations of EX & VG dams and she sold for $7,200.
Sparking the top bid of $100,000 was 50% ownership in a first choice genomic tested male by Gillette Windbrook or Flevo Genetics Snowman from Wiamy Kyana Bolton VG-88, the Bolton who is the #8 GLPI cow in Canada at +3076. This is the first time in many, many years that a bull has sold in this great sale. Consigned by Mapel Wood Farms, Jerseyville, Ont., O'Connor Land, Ajax, Ont. & GenerVations, Campbellville, Ont.
Ms C-Haven Oman Kool, best selling heifer calf in the Sale of Stars at $76,000, this July 2010 "Man-O-Man" with a +3477 GPA LPI is backed by nine direct Very Good-USA dams. Consigned by Tom Mercuro, Tom Priest & Nick Raggi, Rocky Ridge, Md., she was purchased by Marita Holsteins, Buenos Aires, Argentina, Granja La Ponderosa, Cantabria, Spain, & Lookout Holsteins, Canton-de-Hatley, Que.
A high indexing May 2010 Man-O-Man granddaughter of Ronelee Outside Dabble EX-91 2E, she sold for $64,000
